Delawareans are urged to use cloth face coverings and reserve medical-grade masks for use by health care workers and first responders. Medical-grade masks include N95, KN95, surgical, or other masks that would be appropriate for a health care setting.

Homemade Cloth Face Coverings Can Be Used

The CDC advises the use of simple cloth face coverings slows the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.

Make a Cloth Face Coverings Using a T-shirt

Materials Needed:

  • T-shirt
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Cut across t-shirt 7 to 8 inches from the bottom
  2. Cut out tie strings
  3. Tie strings around neck, then over top of head
